Create Backup Apps In Cydia and Rock
There are several occasions when you try to upgrade your device from current version to the latest. You need to back-up the settings and data of your iDevice while Jailbreaking your gadget. It is very imperative in case anything goes wrong in jailbreaking process.
You can restore your favorite apps and settings via backup file. You can easily create the backup apps on your device for later use either while jailbreaking or resetting the phone.
In both conditions, backup will help you to restore your most used and favorite apps. You have to be enough vigilant to create the backup of all apps as some of them do not have support. If you have jailbreak apps then make sure that they are compatible with iOS 4 before you update. Now move to the Cydia and Rock for backing up.
Cydia
Cydia is a bit more complicated than the Rock, but lots of users prefer Cydia. It is quite easy and simple process to backup your apps with Cydia. You just need to download a free application named Aptbackup. Once you install Aptbackup on your device, you will see a particular icon on your Home Screen. Hit that icon and you will notice 2 buttons, Restore and Backup.
Prior to backup upgrade, click on the backup option. After this you will have to sync it with iTunes. This process will allow Aptbackup to jailbreak and sync with Mac/PC. Once you are done with this, you can go ahead with the installation of iOS 4. After completing the installation, you just have to backup data with iTunes.
After you restore all things from the backup, you can move further for the re-jailbreak process. Go to the Cydia again and download Aptbackup once again. This time you need to click on the Restore button. Doing this will Simply restore your all apps on your device.
Now, moving to the Rock user.
Rock
Rock’s process is quite easy and simple. Almost every rock user will have a rock ID, if you don’t have, you need to get one instantly to save backup. You can easily restore the backup after the OS is installed on your device. You just have to provide Rock ID in order to restore the backup. Once you re-jailbreak and install the Rock, just login and click on the settings.
You will see a dropdown menu after clicking on the settings. Here you will see the backup option. So before starting the installing procedure of a new OS, you just need to ensure that Rock is creating backup for you. It is very vital to create the backup before upgrading the iDevice. Make sure that the option to save packages to the Rock ID is checked. If it is not you need to mark it.
Select “Restore from Backup” and you will enable the restore settings from the backups. If you have stored several backup files then choose the latest one that you have currently stored on your device.
