The iPhone Dev Team is back again, this tie with the release of RedsnOw 0.9.6b5 for Mac and Window users, enabling them to flash iPad baseband 06.15.00 on their iphone 3G and iPhone 3GS. In case you are jammed with iOS 4.1 or iOS 4.1.2 at base band o5.14.00 or 05.15.04, then you can utilize the updated redsnOw 0.9.6b5 bringing the base band file right from Apple for now.
Possibility of it being delayed are also high. As a Windows or Mac user, when you are stuck at 05.14.02 BB or 05.15.04BB, initially download redsnOw to obtain iOS 4.2.1. During this time, redsnOw updates the base band to 06.15.00. After that you can use untrasnow to unlock it.

But care should be taken to update 06.15, if not you may have to face serious repercussions! First of all there is no way to return back from 06.15 and you cannot conceal it from Apple. There fore there is a threat of violation of warranty.
Secondly, if some future base band emerges with a critical fix, you will bot be able to update. In anyways you won’t be able to update if you want to keep your unlocked status.
Last but not the least, beginning with FW 4.2.1, if you possess 06.15 on your iPhone, you will never be able to retrieve stock firmware!
