Manually Upgrading WordPress 3.0.4

Have you ever faced any problems in updating the WordPress 3.0?

If you have any sort of write permissions in the ftp directory, then there are chances that you facing the trouble in updating the WordPress 3.04.

You can get header not found error and wp-db file error codes. In order to update the new release without any sort of trouble, you can follow the below mentioned easy steps:

  • First you need to take a back up WordPress database
  • Then make a back up of .htaccess and wp-config files. If you want to work in any other languages other than default you need to take the back up of language directory in wp-includes/languages/
  • Download the new WordPress release 3.0 and extract all the files into your PC
  • With the exception of wp-content folder you can replace all other files in the ftp directory with the extracted files including the wp-admin and wp-includes folder
  • Then you need to login to the dashboard of the WordPress site
  • You will be popped up with a screen asking to upgrade the WordPress database
  • Then you need to click the button that shows Upgrade WordPress Database, and after you click the button, you will prompted with the success report.
