iPhone SIM Cards Could Be Reset Remotely
Apple possesses a patent that may possibly allow it to remorely reset SIM cards of iPhone. This could come as good news to iPhone users who have frequent abroad trips and need to unlock the terminal quite often. With this remote reset method, Apple will be able to reset an iPhone SIM to make it compatible with any carrier.
Right now, iPhone users actually need to send the terminal either to service provider or to Apple for resetting. However, if this practice is implemented, they won’t have to go through such hassles anymore. On user’s request, Apple will be able to reset the terminal via its own servers without requiring any consent from the service provider.
Though service providers are likely to disagree with this type of system, the idea seems to be good. The carriers associated with Apple gain lots from Cupertino Company’s reputation and would be the ones at loss. Users would no more be bound to any mobile network operator and would be in a position to choose any carrier they wish at any time.
In case Apple really puts this system into practice, it is likely that we will see lot of debates between Apple and its service providers including Verizon, AT&T, etc.
