Note: This method works only on jailbroken iOS devices where MobileTerminal and OpenSSH are installed.
- Get the MobileTerminal app from Cydia. (Version must be 426 if using iOS 4.x.)
- Now, explore MobileTerminal
- Type in: su root, in MobileTerminal
- Now type in: alpine, as it’ll ask you for a password
- For a bit cleaner screen, type in: cd
- Now, modify password by typing in: passwd
- Now enter the password you want
- Reenter the password that you entered previously
- Type in: passwd mobile, to modify the password for the Mobile user
- Now enter the password you want
- Reenter the password that you entered previously
