Nokia, the world’s prevalent leader in mobile phone manufacturing has universally introduced its Ovi Store. At the Ovi Store, Nokia would be launching applications, videos, music, widgets and ringtones. Nokia users would also be able to download free as well as paid applications to their handsets running on Symbian S40/S60 OS.
For e.g. users using Nokia handsets such as 5800 XpressMusic, latest N-series and E-series Smartphones and imminent N97 that run on Symbian operating systems would be able to utilize the Ovi Store services. Through Nokia Ovi Store, a number of third-party software developers would also be able to monetize and distribute their software to Nokia users worldwide.
Alike the Apple app store, Nokia also offers a 70% revenue share to software developers. Presently, numerous different applications are available at Nokia Ovi Store for users to download. Nokia Ovi Store has also made its services available for Nokia users in the US.
