Steps To Root HTC Desire HD (DHD), Install h-boot (S-off) and Clockwork Recovery

This post is basically for the Desire users who want to root their device in order to install several ROMs. By rooting your device your device will be unlocked and overclocked as per your demands. There are several users who just want to make their device free from the chains and unlock it to enhance its productivity. Here is the method to root the HTC Desire device.

1.2 Launch it and enable “Set system r/w after the root

1.3 Tap on the “Temproot Now” and hang on till it’s completed

1.4  Tap on the permroot now

1.5  DHD will mechanically boot again.

In order to verify that everything went good download the app named Terminal Emulator, from the app store. Launch it and type su. If you get the # sign on your screen it means you have done all steps correctly until now.

  • Install the engineering version of the HBOOT to get the S-off

2.1   Download the sfjuocekr DHD script from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835746 for flashing HBOOT

2.2   Extract the contents and copy it to the SD card. Ensure that you have already created DHD name directory in your SD card root. Rename the DHD – smart folder to DHD on your SD card.

2.3   Launch the terminal emulator

2.4   Type the su

2.5   Enter “sh/sdcard/DHD/check

2.6   If you find that everything went fine then type “sh/sdcard/DHD/backup

2.7   Once find this one OK, please move further with “sh/sdcard/DHD/hboot” This command will install the engineering hboot.

  • Install the custom recovery image

3.1   ROM manager supports Desire HD officially so you can download clockwork image from here.

3.2   Start android app store app on your device and install ROM manger from the market

3.3   Launch the ROM manager and select the Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery

3.4   Wait until installation completes

3.5   Once installation completed, click on the Reboot option in ROM manage to check that everything done fine.

3.6   That’s all.

    Note that Visionary doesn’t work with ROM 1.72.405.3 Android V2.2.1 and never will. The developer has stopped working on it.
