Run Your Laptop When Lid is Closed

There are many reasons to opt for running laptop when lid is closed, such as when downloading huge files, listening to songs, saving power and while keeping your CPU running etc.

It is quite interesting feature of laptop, where you can keep it running while its Lid is closed. Just supposing, you are in the middle of downloading huge file and you have to go outside. In that case you need to save your computer power as well as keep downloading the files. So close the Lid and save a lot of power and while your CPU is running, which is after enabling the feature.

The guide mentioned Billo will help you make some changes in settings in order to activate the feature of keep running laptop while its Lid closed.

Initially, tap on the Start button in Windows 7 and enter “Power” in search box.
You will be shown a list from there you need to select “Power Options”
Here you will see default power plan which is already active. You just need to click on “Change Plan settings” option to make alteration.
Now click on “Change Advanced Power Settings” option.
Now you will get options of advanced power options, enhance the settings of “Power Buttons and lid”
Here you just need to switch on the settings “Do Nothing” on battery and “Plugged in” option depending on your choice if you want to keep your laptop running while it is running on battery power or plugged in power source. However plugged with power source is the best option to choose.
Just click on “Apply” >> “Ok”. Finally, you are done.

From now onwards your laptop will not go to sleep or hibernate when lid is closed. Do remember that running laptop when lid closed heats up the system competitively faster. So be careful while changing the settings to enable this feature.
