Steps to find iPhone 3GS Bootrom Version

Since the latest iPhone 3GS is loaded with new Bootrom, it cannot be jailbroken easily on iOS 4. In such a situation you must know the Bootrom version of your iPhone 3GS. So here is the tutorial to guide you find Bootrom version of iPhone 3GS.  You need to follow the given steps systematically.

1. Connect your iPhone3GS to computer
2. Enter into DFU mode

Windows Operating System

1. Right-click on “My-Computer” icon and choose “Properties”
2. In XP Operating System, navigate to “Hardware”>>“Device Manager”. You can select “Device Manger” after choosing properties option.
3. You will find “Apple USB Driver Mobile Device” under “Universal Serial Bus Controller”. Right-click on this option and select “Properties”
4. Now navigate to Details>> “Device Instance Path” option
5. Scroll sideward and you will find iPhone 3GS Bootrom version

Mac OS X

1. Open “System Profiler”
2. Navigate to “Hardware”>>”USB”
3. Under “USB Device Tree” select “Apple Mobile Device”
4. There will be an option will be shown “Serial Number”, here you will find Bootrom version of iPhone 3GS.

Finally, you are done. Mostly old Bootrom indicated by 359.3, and all other one would be your newer Bootrom.
