Steps to Follow While Installing Windows XP after Complete Installation of Windows Vista

A hack which can help a user in installing Windows XP Operating System in case the same user has installed Vista OS first. If a user has installed Windows Vista Operating System on Drive C and wishing to install Windows XP Operating System on Drive D, simply follow the rules provided below in the same sequence.

  • Initiate Windows XP installation from the Bootable Compact Disc by clicking on the Setup.
  • Now boot the system from a Widows Vista Operating System DVD. Choose the territorial settings and press Next button.
  • From the options available choose Repair Your Computer option. This begins the detection of Vista OS partition, and repairs associated problems related to booting.
  • Select either repair button to start the repairing option.
  • Reboot the system with Windows Vista Operating System. Click on Start button, choose run, type in cmd and start executing the below commands in the same sequence.
  1. Bcedit /create {ntdlr} /d “earlier version of windows”
  2. Bcedit /Set {ntdlr} Device Boot
  3. Bcedit /set {ntdlr} Path ntdlr
  4. Bcedit /displayorder {ntdlr} /addlast

Now restart your computer. You will find both versions of operating systems i.e windows vista and windows XP in boot computer menu.
